A community of learning
"Something magical is happening in those classrooms." Current Bloom parent
Bloom Community School began with a vision for building a new kind of school in Bloomington-Normal - one that would welcome families excited about innovative, inclusive, researched-based educational practices. Bloom is an inquiry-based, student-centered, community-connected environment in which students are supported in developing learning
Bloom's pilot academic year began in August 2017 after a successful summer program. The academic year was organized around three mixed-age classrooms, serving families with children in kindergarten through sixth grade, and four thematic units. Experienced teachers lead each class, with frequent co-teaching and collaborative projects with all ages. The fluidity of the classrooms allows us to honor individual learning needs and growth. Bloom operates from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., with before- and after-care options available on-site.
