A community of learning
"Something magical is happening in those classrooms." Former Bloom parent
Bloom Community School began with a vision for building a new kind of school in Bloomington-Normal - one that would welcome families excited about innovative, inclusive, researched-based educational practices. Bloom is an inquiry-based, student-centered, community-connected environment in which students are supported in developing healthy lifelong learning habits and 21st century skills.
Bloom's pilot academic year began in August 2017, and has developed into a robust program that focuses on inquiry-based learning to explore and scaffold academic skill-building, social-emotional development, community-mindedness, and close connection with teachers and peers. Experienced, creative, award-winning teachers lead each class, and outside of pandemic conditions, the school operates as a community of learning, with co-teaching and collaborative projects as well as school celebrations with all ages. The fluidity of the classrooms allows us to honor individual learning needs and growth. For more details about our academic approach, click ABOUT BLOOM .
Bloom operates from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
